Who
are the Knights?
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service
organization with 1.7 million members. It provides members and their families
with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their
communities, families and young people.
What
are Fraternal Benefits of Membership?
The Knights offer an number of different Fraternal Benefits,
such as:
The Order's insurance program, Rated AAA (
Superior) by Standard and Poor's and A++ (Superior) by A.M. Best.
There is an Orphan Fraternal Benefit for orphans
of eligible families available, a Family Fraternal benefit and a
Member / Spouse Fraternal benefit (to provide free accidental
death coverage for all members in good standing and their
spouses).
Scholarships are available for Members and their families as
well as for Seminarians.
The Order also offers Student Loans to Members, their spouses
and children.
Each new members receives a K of C Rosary blessed by the
supreme chaplain.
Each Knight receives a free subscription to Columbia Magazine
A daily Mass of remembrance is held at St.
Mary's church in New Haven, Ct. for deceased members and their
spouses.

How
Do I Join?
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in
union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is
one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church.
Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus.

What
is the Fourth Degree?

Any
Third Degree member in good standing, one year after the anniversary of his
First Degree, is eligible for membership in the Fourth Degree. The primary
purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting
responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to the Knights' respective
countries through active membership in local Fourth Degree groups (called
"assemblies"). Certain members of the Fourth Degree serve as honor
guards at civic and religious functions, an activity that has brought worldwide
recognition to the Knights of Columbus.
St. Timothy's Council belongs to the
Bishop
McNamara Assembly. Bishop McNamara Assembly is based in Frederick, MD.
What
is the Ladies Auxiliary?
St. Timothy's
council started a Ladies Auxiliary in 2005. Their name is the
GEMSTONES. This comes from the
motto of St. Timothy parish "We are Living Stones". The Ladies Auxiliary's main function is to
support their men and the council. They have an active membership and would
welcome you to join them.
Who
are Columbian Squires?

Under
the guidance of Christian Brother Barnabas McDonald (1865-1929), the first
Columbian Squires circle was instituted in 1925. Membership in the Squires is
for Catholic boys between the ages of 12 and 17. Squires' activities are many,
varying from spiritual to active service for the Church and community. Each
circle elects officer members from their own rank, teaching skills of leadership
and responsibility. St. Timothy's does not have a Squires Circle associated with
the Council at this time.
What
kinds of Activities can I look forward to?
Our
council hosts a large number of council activities throughout
the year.
Monthly activities: Business Meeting, Participation in
various Church ministries (Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers,
Greeters, Lectors, Music Ministry, Parish Council, etc.)
Quarterly activities:
Family Breakfast and Mass, held on the 5th
Sunday of the month, at the 8:00 am Mass; Roadside cleanup along Route 26 in
Walkersville, Parish Blood Drives.
Semi-annual activities:
Active involvement with the cleaning of the church.
Annual activities include: Seminarian Appreciation dinner, Tootsie Roll program for the
mentally handicapped, Christmas Card program, Council
Incentive Program ( Annual Car Raffle Program), Council Family
Picnic.
Church Activities: Ushering at Mass; Eucharistic
Ministry participation; Lectoring Ministry participation;
honoring the altar servers.
Youth Activities: Basketball Shootout; Strong ties to the
Christian Formation and Youth Ministries of the parish.
Family Activities: Family Mass and breakfast, Council Family
Picnic.
Community Service:
Route 26 roadside cleanup, Blood Drives, and assorted other
activities.
Meetings are
held twice a month, the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, at 7:30 p.m. at
St. Timothy church.
