Mary,
Queen of the Knights
Our Lady, Queen of the Knights, bless all the
activities of our order. Keep us true to the pledge to extend the
kingship of thy Divine Son on earth. Through Thine intercession, win
for us the grace ever to exemplify in our public and private lives,
the virtues which should characterize those specially dedicated to
the service of the heavenly court. Make us always aware, that as
your Knights we are constantly observed, our faith judged and our
order appreciated. Accept, O Mary, this renewed pledge of fealty and
devotion of thy servants, the Knights of Columbus. Amen.
Prayer for vocations
O God, who wishes all men to be saved, touch
with grace the hearts of many young men and women, moving them to
offer themselves as candidates for the priesthood and religious
life. Inspire fathers and mothers and all members of Christian
families to become aware of the great need of religious vocations.
Endow all people with reverence for these sacred callings that they
may encourage many to serve God and mankind in the ranks of
religion. These blessings we ask thorough Christ our Lord, Amen.
Prayer for Father McGivney
O great and glorious God.
You imbued Your holy priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, with deep
priestly virtue and especially with pastoral concern for the poor,
the orphan, the widow, for the Christian education of youth, for the
protection of the faith of the working man of his day.
Now that
his priestly ministry continues to spread to countless millions
throughout the world, through the efforts and influence of the Order
of the Knights of Columbus, which Father McGivney founded, we
beseech You, Heavenly Father, to raise your faithful servant,
Michael, to the honors of the altar. We ask this favor through our
Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Mother, Mary and our Mother, Amen.
The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was
it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your
help, or sought your intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by
this confidence, we fly unto you, O virgin of virgins, our Mother.
To you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother
of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy,
hear and answer me. Amen.
Loving God, I thank you for the gift of life you gave and continue
to give to me and to all of us.
Merciful God, I ask your pardon and forgiveness for my own
failure and the failure of all people to respect and foster all
forms of life in our universe.
Gracious God, I pray that with your grace, I and all people will
reverence, protect, and promote all life and that we will be
especially sensitive to the life of the unborn, the abused,
neglected, disabled, and the elderly. I pray, too, that all who make
decisions about life in any form will do so with wisdom, love, and
courage.
Living God, I praise and glorify you as Father, Source of all
life, as Son, Savior of our lives, and as Spirit, Sanctifier of our
lives. Amen
Prayer for the Sick
Watch, O Lord, with those who wake,
or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those
who sleep.
Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love's sake. Amen.
Saint Augustine
Prayer to St. Joseph
Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great,
so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my
interest and desires. Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful
intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual
blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that, having engaged
here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and
homage to the most Loving of Fathers. Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary
contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not
approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and
kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw
my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departed souls, pray for
me.
Prayer to St. Michael
the Archangel
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our
protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God
rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly
Host - by the Divine Power of God - thrust into hell, Satan and all
the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
